The exhibition, “Dislocations: Photo colonies in Orlovat” in the Contemporary Gallery Zrenjanin

The artistic works created in the last three years on a photographic colony in the village Orlovat, which are part of a collection dedicated to Uros Predic, for the first time will be presented to the audience in Serbia at the exhibition “Dislocations: photographic colony in Orlovat” in the Contemporary Gallery Zrenjanin. The opening of the exhibition is scheduled for January 23, 2017 at 19 pm, and the exhibition will last until 23 February.

The exhibition, “Dislocations: photographic colony in Orlovat”, organized by the curatorial duo maramaida (Maida Gruden and Mara Prohaska Markovic) includes twelve works of artists and one artists’ couple. The exhibition will be attended by renowned artists and their younger colleagues: Andrea Palast, diSTRUKTURA, Ivan Arsenijevic, Nidaa Aboulhosn, Ivan Petrovic, Stefan Savic, Goran Micevski, Nina Todorovic, Mihailo Vasiljevic, Alexandria Ajduković, Miljan Vuletic, Nevena Popovic and Denis Jeremic.
Featured works, realized in communication with the local population and context, including various aspects of photography as a document archival objects, communicative means, methods to study visual perception and cultural conventions. Everyday life villagers and newcomers, their environment, occupation and interests, are presented through photographic genres such as landscape, genre scenes, portraits. In this way, a village in Vojvodina has revived many visions based on different perceptions, experiences and sensibilities of the artist.

Their previous experience in the organization of traditional art colonies showed that the artists who worked in the medium of photography integrate their practices into the village and establish communication with the villagers through direct and interactive approach. Therefore, in 2014 established a photographic colony in Orlovat in order to examine and develop the potential of the photographic medium. In addition to the artists in the village was visited by a psychologist and Dubravka Radusinović that implemented psychological photographic workshops with young village residents, based on the observation and understanding of others, and create their own photo.

Works with the first photographic colonies in Orlovat presented in the Serbian Cultural Centre in Paris in 2015 at the exhibition “Serbia: Photo”.
The colony is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia, the Company zavičajaca Orlovat, local community Orlovat, elementary school Uros Predic Orlovat, Uruženje cultural periphery, PR agency Earth and inhabitants Orlovat.
