Macao, 13th April. At the international Apheleia Conference in Mação, Portugal, Dr. Biljana Jokić and Ivana Luković from the Center for Applied Music research team presented significant findings on the psychological impact of applied music in museum settings. Their presentation highlighted results from a pilot study conducted at the Museum of Science and Technology in Belgrad e, Serbia, and outlined the expanded research framework being implemented across three museums in the EUROMUSE project.

Key Research Insights:

  • Pilot Study Results: The Belgrade-based research demonstrated measurable effects of originally composed music on museum visitors’ emotional engagement, cognitive processing, and motivational behaviors.
  • International Expansion: The research framework is now being applied at:
    • Museo Bambini Explora (Rome, Italy)
    • Kotsanas Museum of Ancient Greek Technology (Athens, Greece)
    • Museu de Arte Pré-Histórica (Mação, Portugal)
  • Core Focus: Analysis of how site-specific musical compositions influence:
    • Emotional resonance with exhibits
    • Cognitive retention of information
    • Motivational factors in visitor engagement

This research represents a pioneering approach to understanding the multidimensional relationship between sound, space, and audience experience in cultural institutions. The findings will inform best practices for integrating applied music into museum environments globally.
