Interview – Katarina Popović: The perfect combination of beauty and computer mind
Although she was convinced she had no chance to triumph, a young college IT student most liked the expert jury at the prestigious “Next Star Top Model Serbia 2017” competition, which provided her, among other things, a two-year contract with Fashion Studio ‘Click’
Katarina Popovic, 22, is just a simple girl from the neighborhood. Handy Beograđanka this year’s winner of the competition “Next Star Top Model Serbia 2017”. Although she stumbled on the runway perfectly and positively faced the lens of an experienced photographer, this college IT student, despite her predecessors, never wanted to be a model, and she applied for a curiosity to the competition.
– All my life tells me how to deal with modeling, and I thought it was just a better way to tell me that I was too thin. I was convinced that I was not for it, but when I came across a text about the competition “Next Star Top Model Serbia” on Facebook, I felt the need to see what it was and send the application itself. For me, it was a test to check whether I met the criteria, “said Katarina, who signed a two-year contract with the” Click “Fashion Studio as a winner.
Shock and disbelief
In big competition, after a few rounds of selection, the only girl with short hair among fifteen finalists most liked the expert jury and representatives of the leading international service for acquaintance and the main sponsor of the event “AnastasiaLady”.
– When I entered the finals after all the elimination rounds, I could not believe what was happening to me. I spent all that day in my own world, doing what I was told, and I tried not to bother anyone, as everyone was busy and tense. I did not expect to win, I even had my favorites among the girls, so I agreed with some that we would approach everything without clutter and enjoy what we are getting. We wanted to see how it was to be a giant for a day and we left without makeup to make-up artists, hairdressers and stylists. It was awesome, but also very interesting. The biggest shock for me was the moment they called my name. When I was supposed to walk along the runway, I was not aware of what was going on. Soon I got together, luckily.
Although the fashion world did not care that to the extent that, unlike its colleagues, it does not know who the biggest top-models of today are, it is quite certain that Katarina will become the new Karli Klos, model and creator of the “Kode with Karlie” program that allows girls Around the world to learn to encode. And she would like to change in the IT world and to equalize the number of women and men in that domain.
– I am glad that in our country, as well as on the world stage, the attitude of men and women in the IT sectors is changing, although slowly but surely. At college I have more male colleagues than females, but this difference is certainly less than ten years ago. I’m glad there are people like Carla who, by their influence, contribute to changing things. I’ve always been attracted to IT, so after I studied psychology for three years, I realized that I should be dealing with something that completely attracted me, and one of which I will be able to live a decent life one day.
She does not know where her life will take her, but she likes what her world has become richer for another hobby – modeling. So far she has worked with painting and music, she knows she plays several instruments and she sings greatly.
– I am very bad in predictions, not because I have no idea what I would do in life, but because I have too many. I want so much, and often all this is unrealistic, so I can not say with certainty what I will do. They will find space for modeling, but two of my greatest love are painting and music. I graduated from a lower music school, a piano section, I know that I play guitar, bass, drums. I’ve been singing in several bands and I would like to devote more seriously to one day.
