16th International Documentary Film Festival – Beldocs 2023
BELGRADE May 9. From May 10 to 17, 2023, the 16th International Documentary Film Festival – Beldocs 2023 will be held, where 105 films will be shown.
The rich and varied program of the event will be embellished with nine world premieres and 91 Serbian premieres, as well as 30 projects under development or different production stages. Unique and daring film productions by renowned and young authors from all over the world make this year’s selection extremely current and relevant.
At eight locations in the city – Dom omladine Beograd, Yugoslav Cinematheque, Museum of the Yugoslav Cinematheque, Hall of the Cultural Center of Belgrade, Cineplexx Ušće SC, Art cinema Kolarac, Culture Center “Vlada Divljan” and Barutana – the audience will have the opportunity to see some of the most important documentaries from 2022 and 2023. The Beldocs Festival, as in previous years, will be of a hybrid format, since part of the program will be shown on the Beldocs Online platform and the Insajder television.

The selection of Beldocs every year reflects an uncompromising commitment to bold, authentic and creative documentaries, films that deepen our understanding of reality and raise socially relevant topics that we face today – said Mara Prohaska Marković, director of Beldocs.
Beldocs 2023 – the most important films
The domestic competition program brings as many as twelve films whose distinctive style makes the selection intriguing and striking. The authors include both new and award-winning creators. The festival opens with Mladen Kovačević’s film “Another Spring”, while the selection also includes the film “Called and Called”, by last year’s Beldocs winners Luka Papić and Srđa Vuč.
The Serbian competition program, in addition to the aforementioned works, they also include: “And the East River Flows” (Jelena Radenović), “Guide to Coastal Fortifications” (Tijana Petrović), “Aurora’s Dream” (Dragana Jovanović), “Flotation” (Eluned Zoë Aiano, Alesandra Tatić), ” Boogie and Demons” (Ivan Šijak), “Balls” (Gorana Jovanović), “At the End of the Road” (Ivana Todorović), “Nobody Worth Mentioning” (Svetislav Dragomirović), “Portrait of a Dying Giant” (Stefan Đorđević) and “Reznica” (Davor Marinković).
The ten titles that will be included in the international competition program are: “Cisco Kid” (Emily Kaye Allen), “The Other Profile” (Armel Hostiou), “Like an Island” (Tizian Buchi), “The Curse” (Maria Kaur Bedi, Satindar Singh Bedi), “The Kids” (Fanie Pelletier), “Forms of Forgetting” (Burak Çevik), “Landscape” (Daniel Kötter), “Imagination Territory” (Paula Maľárová), “The Third III” (Karim Kassem), “Farewell to the Savage” (Sergio Guataquira Sarmiento).
The competition for the Eurimazh Audience Award this year includes the following films: “Flotation” (Alessandra Tatić, Eluned Zoe Aiano), “Klinke” (Fanie Pelletier), “From Zero” (Irina Boiko). , “Notes from Eremocene” (Viera Čákanyová), “Flowers of the Human Body” (Helena Wittmann), “KaprKod” (Lucie Králová), “Look What You Made Me Do” (Coco Schrijber), “The Band” (Álfrún Örnólfsdóttir) , “The Sisterhood of the Dry Sauna” (Anna Hints), “Apollonia, Apollonia” (Lea Globe), “Polaris” (Ainara Vera), “The Owl in Togliatti” (Laura Sistero).
Beldocs cooperates with numerous world and European film festivals and to many actors in the international audiovisual industry, positioned as the main meeting place for the audiovisual industry in this part of Europe and as a festival is significant not only on the European, but also on the world festival map. This is supported by active accompanying content: Beldocs Industry Days, Connecting Futures, Beldocs Teen, Mini Doc and others.
